רבי ליב ה״גדול״, יליד אוזירוב, היה מטובי תלמידיו של
החוזה מלובלין, ה״יהודי הקדוש״ מפשיםחה, רבי אברהם
יהושע השיל מאפטא ורבי מאירל מאפטא, והצליח להםתיר
את מהותו הרוחנית בפני ההמונים, עד שלא משך עלױ את
עין העולם על אף גדולתו וחכמתו בתורה וביראה, ותמיד היה
נחבא אל הכלים. ה״יהודי הקדוש״ העיד עלױ לפני פטירתו :
״בשעת תפילתי אני נפגש אתו תמיד באותם היכלות. שנינו
הײנו בעלי תוספות ונשרפנו על קדוש השם. את שנינו שלחו
לעולם הזה, כדי שנשלים את ימינו, שנפםקו אז קודם זמנפ.
הוא יזכה לזקנה, כי השכיל להסתר מעין רואים ז אני נפלתי
בידי ההמוגים, ועל כן לא אזכה לזקנה״. ואמנם הוא נסתלק
בגיל של ארבעים וחמש שנה בלבד. לעומת זה נשאר רבי ליב
נחבא אל הכלים גם אחר כך כששימש את רבי מאירל
