המשכתי ברגל. מן הגשר הקטן עד לגשר הגדול היו בתי היהודים ריקים ונעולים. החלונות
הוצאו ממשקופיהם ובמקומם בלטו קרשים. בעברי על-פני הגשר הארעי שעל ההורין, שהיה
בנוי מסירות וקרשים, הכירני הכומר המקומי, והזמינני באדיבות לביתו. קיבלתי את הזמנתו
והתחלתי להטרידו בשאלות. התשובות היו מתחמקות ותוכנן היה: -- ,אנו עצמנו פחדנו מפני
הגרמנים, כלואים היינו בבתינו ולא ראינו מאומה. רק במועד מאוחר יותר נודע לנו על הטבח.
בהביעי משאלה לגשת לבית הורי, אמרה אשתו של הכומר: ,אין לך מה ללכת, ביתכם פוצץ
