שלולית מים דלוחים (,קאלוזשע" בלע"ז) מצויה היתה ברחובנו, בין בית הכנסת הגדול
ובית"המדרש. השלולית הזאת, מימיה לא נתיבשה, גם בימי תמוז הלוהטים, ולא קפאו בימי
שבט הקרים. תמיד עמדה בזוהמתה, תמיד מין קליפה ירוקה כיסתה אותה. בערבי-קיץ נאים,
קירקרו שם צפרדעים. וחזירי הגויים שבעיירה. התפלשו להנאתם והתחממו לאור השמש. לא
אחת, בהחבא מעין אמא, היינו אף אנו, הילדים, נכנסים לשלולית, מטיילים שם יחפים, ומתיזים
מים ובוץ על עוברים ושבים. כשהיו האמהות תופסות אותנו ב,קלקלתנו? -- רע ומר היה
