... הקהלה ד״ר אמיל ביק, שהיה גם ציר לפרלמנט האוסטרי, תמך בהצעה זו, ונקט בצעדים המכוונים להוציאה אל הפועל. בחרו מגרש בקרבת הסיים, בגן קושציושקו, לצורך זה, אך מסיבות פוליטיות בוטלה התכנית. אולם, נעשו שינויים בבנין ה״היכל" לשם הרחבתו והתקינו בו תאורה חשמלית ותנורי גז. גם השם הרשמי "בית תפלה גרמני־יהודי" נשתנה, ונקרא בפולנית "גמינה סינגוגה פוסטמפובה" (בית הכנסת המתקדם של הקהלה). בהשתדלות ד״ר יעקב דיאמנד נוסד ארכיון גם ב״היכל" וגם בועד־־הקהלה. ...
