השלטונות פתחו מיד בחקירה. העירייה הואשמה
בהזנחה ובחוסר דאגה מספיקה לקיום הסדר ומניעת
התפרצות הפרעות. בית־הדין העירוני קבל הוראה
לגבות מידי היהודים עדויות על היקף הנזקים. פרנסי
הקהילה בתוך־העיר — זלמן לבקוביץ ושמואל
יודקוביץ ופרנסי הקהילה בחוץ־לעיר — אהיין דוח־ביץ
ומיכל יודקוביץ, הופיעו בפני בית־הדין ומסרו בנוכחות
הסטרוסטה והפקידים את הדו״ח על הנזקים. בפרברי
העיר היו כ־1000 ניזוקים מכל שכבות האוכלוסייה
היהודית — ב־ניהם: רבנים, סוחרים, בעלי־מלאכה,
והיקף נזקיהם עלה עד 300 אלף זהובים. גם מספר
הניזוקים בתוך־העיר היה גדול, וסכום הנזק עלה עד
700 אלף זהובים. בשני בתי־הכנסת נשדדו והושמדו
פרוכות, מנורות וכתרי־תורה ותשמישי־קדושה
בבית־הכנסת שמחוץ־לעיר שהיו שם חומות־מבצר
נהרס אחד עמודי־התוך, וסכום הנזק בהם הגיע גם
