הגין עליהם בפני עלילודם בהטעימו שהגיעו לאזביו
האשמות בלתי־נכונות, שגם המקטרגים הודו בכך,
שהאשימו את היהודים, ברצח ילדי הבוצרים, או
שלקחו את לחם הקודש (הוסטיא) למטרות חירוף
וגידוף, ובכל מקרה הוכח תמיד כי שקר העידו בהם.
לכן, אוסר המלך לטפול על היהודים אשמות ממין זה.
בא ם יהודי יענש מיתה במשפט כזה, יענש המאשים
מד ה כבג ד מדה. מלבד זה קבע המלך שהעיריות
אחראיות על כל הבזקים שיעשו לבתי־כנסיות ובתי •
הקברות של היהודים במקרים כאלה, והעיריות צפויות
גם לענשים חמורים. בשנת 1578 בילה המלך את כל
החורף בלבוב. באותה שנה הגיש יהודי אחד משפט
נגד הסטרוסטא מיקולאי הרבורט מפולשטין, הידוע
גם בשמו אודנובסקי; כשהסטרוסטא סרב להופיע
לא קבל המלך את סרובו, מפני שגם הסטרוסטא וגם
