מחברי הזכרונות ושמועות שנפוצו אז בעיר — סירוב
לספק לגרמנים את מכסת הפועלים שדרשו ממנו
לעבודת חכפיה. ד״ר פרנס הובל לבית־הכלא שברחוב
לונצקי והומת ביריה בחצר בית־הסוהר. את מקומו
מלא ד״ר רוטפלד, עסק ן ציוני וחבר הועד־הפועל
הציוני בגליציה המזרחית, אך הוא מת במחלה אנושה
בפברואר 1942. אחריו היה לנשיא ד״ר הנריק לנדסברג׳
עורך־דין מפורסם, מי שהיה עסקן ציבורי וחבר פעיל
ב״בני־ברית" לפני המלחמה. גם הוא לא כיהן במשרתו
זמן רב, ונרצח ע״י הגרמנים בספטמבר 1942. הנשיא
הרביעי׳ ד״ר אברזון (תו 61-801 נ £1) איש הגון אך חסר־
אונים והשפעה, מילא את תפקידו עד אשר הוציאוהו
