... הגיטו הצטמצם בשטח צר. תחילתו מרחוב 3־במאי,
והלאה מערבה בכוון רחוב ביאליסטוק עד ביתו של
מולי האופה — הרחוב הנוטה לבית־המרחץ. הרחוב ב-
במאי בחלקו הפונה דרומה נכלל בתוך הגיטו—אך
חלונות־הבתים ופתחיהם סתמו מפני שהיו פונים מחוץ
לגיטו. הכניסה לבתים היתה דרך רחובות ומבואות
צדדיים, כי ההליכה ברחובות ג׳ במאי וביאליסטוק היתה
אסורה בהחלט. כל הדרכים והמבואות נחסמו בקירות
שנבנו סביב. הקיר הראשון של הגיטו נעשה ליד ביתו
של אלתר הקצב, והאחרון הגיע עד בית מולי האופה.
הגיטו כלל איפוא, רק חלק מעט של העיר: סביבת בתי
טיקוצינסקי, בתי־הכנסת, שכונת פודול עד פסי הרכבת
עד לבית וינקביץ. השער הראשי לגיטו הוקם ברחוב
