אי באה בשנת תרל״ב (1872) ביזמתו של הרב
ר׳ מנחם-מנדל היילפרין מגרודנה. נתכנסו שם להתייע-
צות צירי אגודות של "חובבי-ציון" מביאליסטוק, לומזה
ומערים אחרות, ונוסדה בגרודנה חברה בשם "דורשי-
ציון וירושלים". אגודות כאלו נוסדו גם בשאר הערים,
יהודי ליטא היו ערים למתרחש בא״י ולבעית ישוב
הארץ, משתתפים ומתענינים בכל פעולה למען ישוב
א״י, ואף היו שהזדרזו ומכרו נכסיהם ועלו לארץ. ...Connected nodes
