בבנדין התבצרו חסידי גור תודות ל״אגודה״ והתבצרותה בחיי הקהלה בעיר. חתנו של ה״שפת אמת״ מגור, הוא הרב הירש־הניד לוין — נכדו של רבי חנוך הצדיק מאלכסנדר, נתמנה רב בבנדין, והחסידים סיפרו כאילו נזרקה נבואה מפיו של הרב מגור על רבנותו זו של גיסו. מאז היה הרב מגור מבקר כפעם בפעם בבנדין ומתאכסן אצל גיסו הרב, או אצל ר׳ מנדיל שפירא ברחוב פוטוצקי, וכה נתחזקה יותר ויותר השפעת חסידיו בבנדין. המלחמה הגדולה על קבלת רב בעיר לא היתה קלה ביותר, והיא נמשכה שנים רבות. היתה זו אחת המטרות העיקריות של חסידי גור בכל מקום, ואף בבנדין: לכבוש את כל מוסדות הקהלה ולשלוט על העיר ביד רמה. ...Connected nodes
