... הקלויז הגורי הקטן נמצא בתחילתו ברחוב מודז׳יובסקא, ובו היו מצויים אברכים חריפים שהיו סמוכים על שולחנות חותניהם ("קעסטקינדער"). אברכים אלה היוו כוח, ולשם השגת נצחון לגור במלחמה על מינוי שר״ב, או פקיד בקהלה, מוכנים היו לבוא באש ובמים. וכשהיה צורך בעזי־פנים, לא היו נזקקים לאחרים. כל אחד מהאברכים הללו היה די תקיף.
