1■■ עלה לארץ עם הוריו, והוא בן שנתיים. למד בבית־הספר "תחב *
מוני" בתל־אביב. משסיים את בית־הספר בהצטיינות, נצטרף ל״נוער
העובד" והחל לעבוד בבית־מסחר לחמרי־בנין. בימי מלחמת־
העולם השניה, בהיותו כבן 17, מיד לאחר הפצצת תל־אביב, התנדב
לצבא הבריטי. נפל בשבי באי כרתים. משם הועבר לגרמניה, והיה
חמש שנים בשבי. עבד בחווה חקלאית, בלול וברפת. טוב־לב וחרוץ,
וחבריו לשבי מעידים על מסירותו ונאמנותו לעם לארץ. לאחר
שחזר מהשבי, עבד בבית־החרושת "וולקן" בחיפה, ומשם עבר
לעבודה בכפר טירה במזנון, שהקים יחד עם חברו * היה חבר
