באותה שנה קיבלנו מכתבים מבנדין, מהועד היהודי שם, בהם
אנו מתבקשים לשלוח מיד עזרה כספית לשרידי בני־עירנו המגיעים
לבנדין ממחנות העבודה והמוות. ואמנם, לא היתה. הקריאה קול
קורא במדבר, והועד שלנו נחלץ להחשת עזרה. התנהלה מגבית
בין יהודי בנדץ בתל־אביב, והכל תרמו בעין יפה. הפעולה נעשתה,
איפוא, בשני כיוונים: למען אחינו בבנדין המיותמת ולמען אנשינו
החותרים לארץ־ישראל. הפעולה לא היתה. קלה, כי היא בלעה
