למחרת היום הצטלמו חברי ועד "הזמיר" עם הסופר הדגול. בצלמניה חיכו לאלימלך רוטנר, חבר הועד, שאיחר לבוא, שכן בו ביום חזר מסיורו בארץ ישראל. ש״ע שלא ידע את פשר העיכוב, שאל: ״למי מחכים?״. ענה לו אברהם ליוֹר: "הננו מחכים ליהודי מארץ ישראל״. ״מה? — שאל ש״ע — יהודי מארץ ישראל? היכן הוא?" לשאלתו השיב לו ליוֹר ביידיש בנדינאית טיפוסית: "ער קומט פון ארץ־ישראל, אבער איזן איז ער א בענדינער".. . ...
