וכן ב,תולדות יהודי פולין עד המאה ה-18" לד"ר י. שיפר, שהוצא ב-1914 במוסקבה, מוזכר
שהשנים 1550--1500 היו שנים של גידול הישוב היהודי בליטא. בעת ההיא נוסדו הרבה ישובים
חדשים וכן גדלו אלה הקיימים מכבר. האמיגרציה היהודית לליטא זרמה בכיוון ממערב למזרח.
לפיכך קמו היישובים הראשונים בחלקה המערבי של ליטא. ברור, איפוא, שלמשל גרודנה, בריסק,
לוצק וולדימיר-וולינסק קדמו לייסוד דוד-הורודוק. לוניניץ, סטולין וכו'. כדאי לציין שהקהילה
בוולדימיר-וולינסק נוסדה בשנת 1388 ודוד-הורודוק, יחד עם וולדימיר-וולינסק עברו, בערך
בעת ההיא, לנסיכות הסטרודובית. לא מן הנמנע, איפוא, שכבר אז היתה קיימת בדוד-הורודוק
קהילה יהודית. זרם האימיגרציה לליטא גבר בראשית המאה ה-16, בעטים של רדיפות היהודים
