... מיד אחרי שבכנס ר׳ יעקב קאפיל לתפקידו היה
לו סכסוך עם הלמדנים שבעיר, י׳ אברהם שתציל
רפפורט (בעל "איתּן האזרחי") ואהרון אבאב בן יוחנן,
בעבין אילנות הסוככים בענפיהם בבית הקברות
כסוכה ממש והאיסור על כהנים להכניס תחת צל־
האילנות. הוא נפטר בשנת 1630 ועל כסא הרבנות
ישב ר׳ מרדכי בן צבי הירש אשכנזי שהיה רק שש
שנים רב 1636), אחריו היו ר׳ יהושע בן יוסף בעמ״ח
"מניני שלמה" ושו״ת "פני יהושע", שהוזמן כרב
לקרקא, ר׳ משולם זאלצבורג בן אברהם אשכנזי, שמלא
תפקידים חשובים בועד ד׳ ארצות. אחרי מותו, בשנת
1645, נבחר לרב חתנו של הגאון מהר״ם מלובלין
ר׳ יוסף בר אליקום נעץ שהיה בר־סמכא מכובד בזמנו.
הוא נפטר בשנת 1652 ויורשו היה הרב הנודע בחוץ־
לעיר ר׳ דוד בן שמואל הלוי בעמ״ח "טורי זהב", חתנו
של הגאון ר׳ יואל סירקיס (בעל הב״ח), הנקרא בפי
העם הט״ז "לפי ספרו "טורי זהב. כשהופיע שבתי־
צבי על הבמה שלח אליו את בנו ר׳ ישעיהו ואת
בן־חורגו ר׳ אריה ליב לתהות על קנקנו. בניו חזרו
נלהבים, אך ה״ט״ז" לא התרשם. התאשלמותו של
שבתי־צבי הצדיקיה את עמדתו. יורשו של ה״ט״ז"
ברבנות בחוץ־לעיר היה ר׳ יהודה־יודל בר׳ משה
מלובלין שהוא הרב האחרון בחוץ־לעיר 2). ...Connected nodes
