שטימע" וה״מוסף־העברי" שהיה כלול בתוכו. הוא העלה את רמתו
של השבועון ועשהו לבטאון פובליציסטי וספרותי מכובד ביותר.
בשבועון זה פירסם יפת מאות מאמרים, תגובות לעניני השעה, פולמוס
עם החוגים החרדים שהתנגדו לתנועה הציונית בבעיות תרבות
וחינוך, סיפורים. יהודה יפת הצטיין הן בעברית והן באידיש

נתמנה יפת במקומו כעורך שבועון התנועה "די יידישע שטימע"
ב*1932 ובעל־כרחו נכנס לשטח הפוליטיקה. מלבד מאמרים ראשיים
שכתב בכל גליון בבעיות שעמדו על סדר היום וחברותו בהנהגה
הראשית של המזרחי ושל "תורה ועבודה" נכנס כחבר גם בהנהלה
הראשית של "יבנה", מייסד הספריה העממית שעל־יד "יבנה" ופעיל
מאוד בעריכת שורת ספרים וחוברות בהוצאה זו וחומר מתאים
