בעבודה, שלא היתה נוחה לו ביותר, אולם התמסר במלוא כשרונותיו
הארגוניים למוסד שהודרך על ידו והכניס בו שיטה וסדר. היה
חבר המועצה הדתית בתל־אביב—יפו, חבר הלשכות הראשיות של
קרן היסוד והקה״קל, חבר הנהלת הקונגרס היהודי העולמי, חבר
מועצת התאחדות עולי פולין וכיהן שנים הרבה נשיא "ארגון
יוצאי זגלמביה" בארץ, שבשבילו פעל הרבה. מחצית היובל עמדתי
במחיצתו של המנוח בחו״ל ובארץ — מאז עלייתו, וטוב היה לי

של הרה״ג, ר־ מנחם האגד זצ״ל, שכיהן שנים רבות יו״ר
האירגון של עולי זגלמביה בתל־אביב, עד פטירתו (1954), בקול
מחניק ובעיניים בוכיות, כיצד חיטט והפך ידיו באיסוף קומץ
האפר, שעליו שמר כעל בבת־עינו, מהמשלוח האחרון של מגורשי
יהודי אזורנו, 1943, שביניהם היו גם אשתו וילדיו, שנחנקו ונשרפו. ־
בהסכמת הרבנות הראשית בתל־אביב—יפו, שהתערבה באותה
פרשה, הוחלט אחרי שיקולים וחקירות, שיש להביא את ארגז האפר
לקבורה כדין ישראל. בחודש אב, תשי״ב, 1952, נערכה ההלוויה
