גם על הרב י"ו יהושע־השיל הורביץ מחנצ׳ין־אולקוש עבר
בום הגירוש עם בוא הנאצים. עד אז היו חסידי זגלמביה מתרכזים
סביבו ומחכים למוצא פיו. חסידי חנצ׳ין היושבים בארץ מדברים
עליו עד היום בהערצה גמורה ועמוקה כאחת, ואף מספרים עליו
מעשיות המוכיחות, שהרבי ידע וחזה מאורעות הרבה מראש
והשתדל להציל ככל האפשר לפי מיטב ראייתו את המצב. הנה,
כמה ימים לפני פרוץ המלחמה התחילו יהודי בנדין לברוח
למקומות רחוקים יותר מהגבול הגרמני. חיים־איטשה קאנאל לא
עשה דבר בלי לשאול את פי הרבי, ואף עתה נסע לרבי לאולקוש
לבקש עצה מפיו. ענה לו הרבי בלשון שאינו משתמע לשתי פנים:
לא לזוז. ואף הורה למסור לאנ״ש ולהשפיע עליהם להישאר
