התחילה עם הרבי הגוריי הזקן רבי יצחק־מאיר אלטר בעל "חידושי
הרי״מ", שהתחיל לנהוג בצדיקות גור אחרי קוצק. הרי״מ היה
אומר: "ר׳ בונם מפשיסחא הנהיג את העולם באהבה, הרבי מקוצק
נהגם ביראה, ואני מנהיגם בתורה". חבר־תלמידו ר׳ חנוך לוין
מאלכסנדר ניסח: "פשיסחא היתה מידת אהבה, קוצק — מידת
