ועוד: "בין הלוחמים שנפלו בקרב היה המפקד מרדכי אנילביץ
(שהה בעירנו — המלקט). למרד וארשה נענה הדר בקרב השרידים
המעטים בגיטאות פולין. הד המר ד הגיע לבנדין, לביאליסטוק,
לווילנה ולמקומות אחרים, והוא הפיח רוח חדשה בקרב העם. בכל
אחד מהגיטאות האלה הוקמו יחידות הארגון היהודי הלוחם, אולם
לא בכל מקום הצליחו הקבוצות הלוחמות לפעול. נגדם פעלו אנשי
"מועצות יהודים", שסבורים היו, שיבטיחו את חייהם על־ידי נאמנות
לשלטון, ולא היה לאירגון נשק מספיק ומתאים. הפעולות בקראקא
ובבנדין נכשלו וחבריהם נאסרו, אולם כשלונות אלה אינם מקטינים
את חשיבותו של מרד הגיטאות, שהרי המורדים החזירו את כבודם של
