... בפרוץ מלחמת העולם השניה היה בין ראשוני המתגײסים ליחידות העברױת בצבא הבריטי. עם שהרורו מהצבא פעיל היה בשורות המחתרת במאבק נגד השלטון הבריטי בארץ. במלחמת השחרור 8־1947 שרת בצה״ל ומילא תפקידים שונים.
