היהודים ומצבם הוטב בהרבה לאחר שהתורכים כבשו,
בשנת 1453, את קושטא, כי מאז פחדו הסוחרים,
הנוצרים לצאת לארצות הנמצאות בידי התורכים
באופן זה עבר כל המסחר עם ארצות־המזרח ליד •
היהודים וחלקם של יהודי לבוב היה גדול בו. הם
היו סוחרים בבשמים, אריגים אנגליים ופלמיים, אריגי
משי, ומלבוב היו מביאים את סחורותיהם גם לקרקא
ובעזרת קשריהם עם סוחרים נוצרים — גם ליתר
ערי פולין. במאה ה־15 וה־16 התנהל גם מסחר רב־
היקף עם ברסלאו, לשם היו באים סוחרים יהודים
מלבוב או היו שולחים את סרסוריהם וסוכניהם,
כגון הסוחר היהודי שלמה יודאאום, שעשה עסקים
עם הסוחר שפיצמאר ואחרים. סיטונאים יהודים
מקושטא היו מחזיקים סוכנויות בלבוב והם
בעלי־חזקה של מונופולין על כל המסחר התורכי־
פולני. אחד מהם, דוה מחזיק בלבוב את סוכנוConnected nodes
