דוב־בר לבוביץ באלבוב מפולין הקונגרסאית.
מקודם כיהן ב״היכל״ בשנים 1923 — 1930. היה בעל
טנור זעיר, קול דק של שת* אוקטבות. זמרתו היתה
"מועט המחזיק את המרובה", הצטיין בקולו הרך
והנעים, ונהירים היו לו היטב שבילי הנגינה
לכל ענפיה. בתפלתו היה מלטף ומלהיב את שומעיו.
היה גם משכיל וכתב מאמרים בעברית יפה על בעיות
הנגינה היהודית. אך לא אהב להתעכב זמן רב במקום
אחד. היחסים בינו לבין הרב המטיף ב״היכל״ היו
מתוחים, עד שהתפטר ועבר לכהן כחזן בבית־הכנסת
"גל־עד" במשך שנתיים, אך גם שם היו יחסי־ריב
בינו לבין הגבאי, שגרמו להתפטרותו. הוא עבר ללודז,
לבית־הכנסת הגדול. במשך השנתיים שכיהן לבוביץ
בביהכ״ג בלודז יצר את האטמוספירה הנכונה של
תפלה בלחש, ויהודי לודז נהרו בכל ימי השבת והחגים
אל ביהכנ״ס הגדול לשמוע אל הפרוש המוסיקלי של
תפלתו, אך גם שם התקוטט עם הגבאים, עד שהתפטר
