... עם תקופת חיבת־ציון נראו בקלויזים הבנדינאים אברכים חסידיים האוספים כספים למען ארץ־ישראל. לא היה זה מן הדברים הקלים. היו קלויזים שדבר זה עורר בהם סערות, חסידים היו שוברים את הקערות, קורעים את הקו״קים, חוטפים את הכספים. אך לא היד. מזה מפלט. הפעולה היחידה של חובבי־ציון אז היתה איסוף כספים. אך מאורעות גדולים אירעו בשנת 6—1905.
מן "הצפירה" ו״המליץ" נודע על "מדינת היהודים" של ד״ר הרצל. מלבד זה חדר רעיון חיבת־ציון יותר בערי זגלמביה לאחר האספה הגדולה של חובבי־ציון בקאטוביץ הקרובה שמעבר לגבול שלזיה, שבה השתתפו רבנים הרב שמואל מוהילבר מביאליסטוק, הרב יצחק־יעקב ריינס מלידא ורבנים נודעים אחרים.Connected nodes
