... חיי היהודים בבנדין התרכזו סביב בית־הכנסת. בראש הקהילה עמד הרב וארבעה דיינים, שתפקידם היה לפקח על מוסדות הקהי - לה: חברה קדישא, תלמוד־תורה, ביקור־חולים, "מעוז לדל" (מוסד לכלכלת עניים), הכנסת־כלה, מלביש ערומים והלואות חן (כעין מוסד גמילות חסדים).
