ואכן׳ בדברױ של בעל ״תורת־אמת״ לא היה שמץ של
הגזמה. הגאון ר׳ אברהם־יצחק היה בעל כשרונות ױצאים
מגדר הרגיל. כוח זכרונו היה נפלא׳ מעולם לא שכח שום
דבר. כשהיה משיב תשובות לרבנים׳ דבר שהיה עוםק בו
מדי ױם בױמו׳ היה כותב את דברי המתהיל שברש״י
ובתום׳ בעל־פה מבלי לעײן בגמרא. חריף ומפולפל׳ עמקן
ובעל םברא׳ ויתר על כן׳ שקדן ומתמיד לילות כימים.
בימות החמה כשהלילות קצרים׳ למד ולימד מעלית השחר
עד חצות הלילה. מימרה שנונה היתה בפיו — לקוחה
מדברי הרמב״ם — ״אין לך שעה שאתה בן־חורין מלימוד
התורה״. ידען גדול היה גם בתורת הקבלה. בכל ױם היה
מתבודד בחדר מױחד ועוםק בםתרי־תורה. מנהגו היה להױת
מעוטף בטלית ותפילין מהנץ החמה עד אחר מנחה גדולה׳
ובשעה שבין שתײם ושלש אחר הצהרים התיר לעצמו לשתות
כוס קפה בהױתו בתפילין׳ ותוך התנצלות כי סומך הוא
על הירושלמי האומר : ״אוכלין ושותין אכילת ארעי בתפילין״. ...Source passage 2
