נולד בדוד"הורודוק בשנת 1892 והתחיל בפעולה הציונית כמורה בבית-הספר האזורי, אך
לא מצא סיפוק בחיי העיירה, ואחרי מלחמת העולם יצא לווארשה, ונכנס בשנת 1921 לפעולה
בשטח העליה, כמנהל מחלקת המודיעין במשרד הארץ-ישראלי המרכזי בווארשה. עשה רבות
לארגון העליה ההמונית מפולין בדרכי רומניה, בדאגה לקבוצות העולים והטבת תנאי נסיעתם
לארץ. בשנת 1925 נתמנה מנהל המשרד הא"י המרכזי בווארשה וכהן בתפקיד קשה זה עד פרוץ
מלחמת העולם השניה, ובעצם ימי הכבוש הנאצי, עד שלא נותרה עוד כל אפשרות להציל ולהעלות
