בעיר שיראה שכאן חיו, עמלו וחלמו על גאולה שבט יהודים בריא של
פודלישה, שלא ידע מנוחה. בחולות בדרך לרדזין, 7־6 ק״מ מלוקוב, ראיתי
המון איברים זרוקים — איבריהם של בני שבט זה. כאן רצחו הגרמנים אלפי
יהודים הן מלוקוב העיר והן מן הערים, העיירות והכפרים שבסביבה, מהם
גורשו היהודים. כמו שבעבר היתה לוקוב העיר לנקודה מרכזית למאורעות,
מקום של מאורעות היסטוריים, כך היתה הקהילה היהודית בלוקוב
למרכז הריגות איומות ועינויים אכזריים. לא רק ליהודי לוקוב, אלא גם לערים,
עיירות וכפרים יהודיים אחרים. קשה לחוש אנוש להבין את הסבל הנורא
שסבלו יהודי פולין בדרכם האחרונה לתאי הגזים. גם אם כל השמים יהפכו
לדפים, כל היערות לעטים וכל הנהרות לדיו, אי אפשר יהיה לכתוב ולתאר את
כל מה שנעשה בשנים 1939-1944 על אדמת לוקוב. אין זה בכוחו של אדם
לכתוב ואפילו יעשו המשתתפים בספר מאמץ על אנושי, לא יוכלו יותר
