... ליד "תרבות" היתה ספריה עשירה, עוד מימי "עבריה", אך קוראיה מעטים היו מחמת מחסור במעון קבוע. המפריד. נדדה ועברה מבית לבית עד שנמצאה לה פינה נידחת, באולם הציונים הכלליים. באין ספרן בשכר לא היה דואג לספריה, לביצורה ולרכישת ספרים חדשים. בהתנדבות מתוך חיבה לשפה שימשו ספרנים: חנוך אלטמן, דוד לוין, דוד רמבישבסקי (שלושתם נשמדו) ובריש ליור (כעת ברמת־גן), שהצטיין בנאמנותו ומסירותו ללא ליאות לכל תפקיד ציוני.
