המתנגדים אםרו מלחמה בחםידות גם בחרמות׳ מלשינות
והוצאת שם רע, והחםידות לא שמה לב לדברי לעגם, כי אם
הלכה הלוך וכבוש מעיר לעיר ומארץ לארץ. היא כבשה את
הלבבות עד שפרשה את כנפי ממשלתה על רוב היהדות
באירופה המזרחית ונעשתה המושלת היחידה בממלכת המםתו־
רין אשר ליהודי אוקראינה ופולין. וכבוש זה הגיע בעיצומו גם
