תחת לשונו את מגמתו והשקפתו׳ להגביר את החםידות
בעיר׳ ולשם כך הביא אתו משמרות של חסידים שנחשבו
לחסידים הראשונים בעיר, ר׳ דוד היה כבר ידוע כלמדן גדול
ומחבר ספרי קודש רבים, ובשנות געוריו יצא לו שם כעילוי
בישיבות בהן למד. ומאידך הוא ידע שיחום משפחתו לבית
ה״נודע־ביהודה״ וגאונים נודעים אחרים ױםיף לו אומץ
