"חברנו בעיריה ארליך הציע, שכל המודעות של העיריה תתפרסמנה גם ביידיש למען יבינו האזרחים היהודים: הצעה זו הוצעה על ידו עוד בעיריה הקודמת, אך נפלה בקולות האנטישמים ופ. פ. ם., ועתה חידשה בועד הכספים בקשר עם הדיון על התקציב והוצאות העיריה. הוא עמד במלחמה קשה, אך הצליח, בי הצביעו בעד הצעתו נבחרי פ. פ. ם., צירי ה״סאנאציה" והאנדקים, שלא היו מרוצים מקבלת ההחלטה צעקו: "בוז לפ. פ. ם.!" "בגדתם באינטרסים הפולניים!״, "היהודים עוד עתידים לדרוש, שגם השלטים ייכתבו ביידיש!". הם הודיעו שיפנו בענין זה למליאת העיריה ויערערו על ההחלטה. האם זה יעזור להם? — ספק רב, כי פ. פ. ם. והיהודים מהווים רוב בעיריה". ...
