עם התחלת הלימודים ב"חדר" נפוצה השמועה., שרק לשעורי התנ"ך יש לבוא בכסוי ראש,
ואילו ליתר המקצועות -- בגילוי ראש. מנהג נוסף הנהיג המורה -- חובה לדפוק על הדלת. חדר
מתוקן זה נתקיים על ידי המורה ברנצ'וק. עד להקמתו ולחידושו של בית-הספר העברי המודרני
בשנת 1924, שבו נתמנה גם הוא כמורה ומאז רבים רבים למדו תורה מפיו עד מאסרו בשנת

ביאליק, בהתרגשות רבה מסר אח"כ פרטים על ועידה זו באסיפה פומבית, שנקראה בעיירה עם
שובו משם. התלהבותו היתה גדולה לקראת השתתפות ,תנועה למען הספר העברי" שעליה הוכרז
בועידה. הוא סיפר לנו על מהלך הציונים בועידה. ועל הרצאותיו של המשורר ח.נ. ביאליק.
התרגשותו גברה בספרו כיצד הרעים המשורר בקולו על גדולי הציבור היהודי בפולניה בצעקו :

אביב 1932. רוב הנוער מאורגן בתנועות-הנוער הציוניות, הבוגרים ברובם רשומים
במפלגות הציוניות, ואנו מחליטים להפגין במשותף את כוחנו בעיירה בהפגנה עצומה, שתיערך
בל"ג בעומר. הוזמנו גם תנועות-הנוער מן העיירות הסמוכות סטולין ולכווה. כמעט כל יהודי
העיירה השתתפו בהפגנה, שבראשה צעדו תלמידי בית-הספר: אחריהם צעדו חברי המפלגות
ותנועות-הנוער על דגליהן. היתה זו תמונה מרהיבת עין. דגלי הלאום התנוססו באויר, החולצות
והעניבות בלטו מכל עבר. לאחר כמה נאומים, שהושמעו ממרפסת ביתו, של מרדכי רימר בשוק.
פתחנו בהורה. ברנצ'וק שעמד במקרה על ידי, סח לי בהתרגשות : ,הרי זו תל-אביב ולא דויד-
הורודוק. הנזכה לראות עוד את שמי התכלת של ארץ-ישראל?" ...Source passage 4

אנו בבית-הסוהר בלב רוסיה והימים ימי ראשיתה של מלחמת רוסיה-גרמניה, חילות הסוביטים
נסוגים, אזעקות והפצצות מספר פעמים ביום -- ואנו כלואים בחדר. האסירים מתחילים לנחש
וחלקם אומר : הלואי ויגיע האויב ונצא מן הכלא. בשקט היה ברנצ'וק אומר ליהודים את דעתו:
,חלילה לנו לחשוב שהגרמנים הם מצילנו, ולמרות היותינו אסירים אל נבקש את בואם". דיבר
בפחד על גורל המשפחות, שנשארו בדויד-הורודוק- : ,לבי אומר לי, שהדרך הנראית קצרה --
